Hartola, A place right out of a fairytale!

dating app android singapore While we were searching to book a cottage in Ranikhet, Hartola popped up in results of places around it. Since we found all decent hotels and cottages booked during the time of our visit in Ranikhet, we thought of exploring this new place called Hartola which seemed not too far away from Nainital (50 kilometers).

see url It is a small village which falls under the district of Nainital, Uttarakhand in India. With a population of only 680 people (as we found out in wikipedia), we expected a less crowded place with some scenic beauty where we could relax and spend some time with family. The only thing we were concerned about was the condition of the road. However to our relief and surprise the village has good roads. Though it’s not too broad, but are leveled and without cracks.

see url We started from Delhi by car early at 5:30 am in the morning. The distance of Hartola from Gaziabad (from where we started) is around 320 kms. We took a break in the highway restaurant for breakfast and tea. Next we directly stopped at our destination at around 2 pm. We had booked a homestay through AirBnb called The 3-oak hideaway. The place is neat and clean and well maintained by the caretaker. They also have some land in front of the house where there are various fruit trees. The house is designed very aesthetically and it seemed care had been taken in selecting the furniture and various artifacts. The big sized windows with wooden shutters ensured a good view as well as protection from wind and rain.

The day was mostly spent on a tour around the house and viewing the property where every corner seemed like a view spot. Since the village is small there is not much to see but if you love exploring the roads on foot then you are surely going to enjoy it. There are two temples nearby which could be seen provided you cover the uphill journey on foot. There is a small nursery that could be visited by plant lovers. If you want to explore more then you can always take a trip to Nainital and visit the many sightseeing spots there. Mukteshwar around 28 kms from Hartola could also be visited. Nathuakhan is the nearest place with a market where various things can be bought (9.2 kms).

follow url Weather was awesome around the time we had gone which was around mid of May. We were more than happy to get away from the maddening heat of Delhi. The days were pleasant with 22-23 degrees centigrade while nights were much cooler with 16- 17 degrees centigrade. On our second day of stay we also got some rains which brought down the day temperatures further and made our souls get drenched in happiness. It was a very lovely view of the green around with rain and clouds.
